Soul Sunday freak

13 04 2008

In six sultry minutes of symphonic soul/funk, Leon Haywood puts the finger on one of life’s absolute joys – knowing you’re gonna get some, preferably on a Sunday morning in the middle of winter, bright and early. Okay, so I stole that line from Herman de Coninck. I wanna do something freaky to you boasts an irresistibly funky bassline (cue Snoop: “One, two, three into da fo’…”), terrific strings and some uncompromising lyrics. And moaning, of course.

Leon Haywood – I wanna do something freaky to you (Polygram, 1996 [1975])
